Inter Medya has announced that the popular Turkish series Siyah Kalp (Valley of Hearts), produced by TIMS&B Productions, has been licensed for broadcast in Italy. The Italian media giant Mediaset Italy secured the rights to the series, where it will air under the title "Valley of Hearts" (Gonuller Vadisi). This development marks yet another expansion of Turkish dramas into European television markets.
The series is set in Cappadocia, a region in Turkey known for its unique rock formations and status as a major tourist destination. The plot revolves around the story of a mother who abandons her newborn twin babies and the unexpected events that unfold as the children grow up. The series features a prominent cast, including Ece Uslu, Aras Aydin, Hafsanur Sancaktutan, Leyla Tanlar, Burak Sergen, and Ilker Aksum. Directed by Uluc Bayraktar and written by Yildiz Tunc, the show captures themes of family secrets, emotional reunions, and unresolved conflicts.
Mediaset Italy, one of Italy’s leading media groups, has a notable history of acquiring Turkish series. Founded in 1987 by former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, the company is part of the MFE - Mediaset Group, owned by the Fininvest Group. With over 10 TV channels, multiple radio stations, nearly 5,000 employees, and an annual revenue of approximately 3 billion euros, Mediaset holds a major position in Italy’s media landscape. Berlusconi, who had long been known for his admiration of Turkey, passed away in 2023.
Turkish dramas have steadily gained traction in Italy, following successful adaptations like Bir Zamanlar Cukurova (Bitter Lands) and Aldatmak (Deception). Inter Medya has played a key role in bringing Turkish productions to international audiences. The company’s representatives stated that further licensing deals for Siyah Kalp in other regions are in the final negotiation stages. The series made its international debut in October 2023 at the MIPCOM TV market in Cannes, a significant event for global content distribution.
Additionally, Mediaset Italy has acquired the broadcasting rights for the second season of Aldatmak, continuing its collaboration with Turkish production companies. As Turkish dramas continue to attract attention in global markets, the partnership between Turkish media firms and European networks is likely to expand, offering new opportunities for content exchange between the two regions.
