Toyota Introduces Hilux GR SPORT in Cappadocia with European Launch

Toyota has unveiled its latest version of the Hilux, the GR SPORT, with a European launch event held in Cappadocia, Turkey. As part of this regional introduction, more than 140 journalists from over 20 countries were invited to test and experience the vehicle in both on-road and off-road environments. Scheduled to go on sale in Turkey in May, the GR SPORT will serve as the flagship version in the Hilux range.

Motorsport-inspired exterior design

The design of the Hilux GR SPORT reflects the brand’s long-standing engagement in motorsport. Drawing from achievements in the Dakar Rally and World Rally-Raid Championship, this model integrates several elements that emphasize its performance-oriented identity. The exterior includes a GR SPORT-specific front grille, flared wheel arches, fog lamp bezels, a sports bar, a bed cover, and 17-inch alloy wheels. Silver-colored front underrun protection and integrated GR SPORT badges help distinguish the vehicle visually. Components such as red brake calipers and new rear coil springs contribute to a differentiated appearance aligned with the vehicle’s dynamic focus.

Suspension upgrades and traction systems

Under the hood, the Hilux GR SPORT is powered by a 2.8-liter turbo diesel engine delivering 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with a selectable four-wheel drive system and an Active Traction Control System (A-TRC), the vehicle is calibrated to adapt to various terrain conditions. Suspension enhancements include a 70 mm increase in the front track width, lighter stabilizer bars, and the relocation of rear shock absorbers to an outboard position. These changes are designed to improve stability and reduce body roll while maintaining ride comfort. The model also features a towing capacity of 3,500 kg and a payload capacity of 1,000 kg.

Interior highlights and connectivity features

Inside, the cabin of the Hilux GR SPORT showcases design elements reflecting the Toyota GAZOO Racing heritage. The interior features a black color scheme with red seatbelts for contrast. Manual paddle shifters, aluminum pedals, and a combination of suede and leather upholstery enhance the vehicle’s sporty character. The perforated seat surfaces and silver stitching are incorporated to improve both aesthetics and comfort. Carbon fiber-like trim accents, GR branding on the instrument cluster, and the multimedia display emphasize the model’s identity. The infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen with voice recognition, and supports wireless integration with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
