The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has announced that it will combine two of its flagship events, the SFA Expo and the Riyadh Marathon, into a unified program scheduled from February 5 to 8, 2025. This initiative seeks to encourage widespread participation in physical activities and support healthier living habits across Saudi Arabia.
The SFA Expo will take place at JAX District from February 5 to 7, offering a variety of interactive zones centered on health, fitness, and overall wellness. Key sections will include areas dedicated to children's sports, physical activities, success stories from athletes, innovations in fitness technology, and guidance on healthy eating. A special marathon zone will be set up for distributing race kits and facilitating pre-race activities. The inaugural SFA Expo drew over 12,000 attendees, featuring 58 exhibitors, 13 national sports federations, and 60 guest speakers.
The Riyadh Marathon, set for February 8, 2025, will provide options for participants with varying fitness levels, including a 42 km full marathon, a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km race, and a 4 km family run. The marathon route will highlight Riyadh’s iconic landmarks, making it both a sporting and cultural experience. The previous edition attracted over 20,000 runners from 125 countries, with Saudi nationals comprising a record 58% of the participants. Organizers anticipate that the 2025 marathon will host up to 40,000 runners.
These events are supported by leading sponsors. Saudi Awwal Bank (SAB) has returned as the presenting partner for the Riyadh Marathon, while strategic partners for both events include ASICS and Tawuniya.
HRH Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, President of SFA, highlighted the significance of these events in fostering active lifestyles. He remarked, “The launch of the Saudi Sports for All Federation’s events, combining SFA Expo and the 2025 Riyadh Marathon, represents a significant step forward in our mission to make physical activity a cornerstone of daily life in the Kingdom. We will not only celebrate athletic excellence but also provide a platform for our community to explore new sports and embrace healthier lifestyles.”
Shaima Saleh Al-Husseini, Managing Director of SFA, expressed that uniting these events will create a unique and engaging experience for all attendees. She said, “Bringing our events together under one umbrella will create a dynamic, engaging experience for all attendees. Whether you are an elite athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or simply someone looking to lead a healthier lifestyle, this initiative will offer something for everyone.”
Both events align with Saudi Vision 2030, which emphasizes the role of fitness and physical activity in the nation’s social development. The Riyadh Marathon holds the prestigious ‘World Athletics Elite Label Road Race’ classification, further solidifying its international recognition.
Details on venues, marathon routes, and additional sponsors are expected to be announced in the coming days.
