Realbotix Unveils Humanlike Robot Melody Designed for Portability
At the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, tech company Realbotix revealed its latest innovation, a lifelike AI-powered robot named Melody. This groundbreaking humanoid stands out not only for its advanced capabilities but also for its unique portability, offering a glimpse into the future of robotics for personal use.

Melody is designed to serve multiple roles, including acting as a “romantic partner,” a personal assistant, or even a travel companion. Andrew Kiguel, CEO of Realbotix, highlighted the robot's versatility, stating, “Melody was created with the intention of having robots that are easy to travel with and modify for various forms of personal interaction.” The robot’s ability to be disassembled and reassembled with ease makes it particularly appealing for frequent travelers looking for a portable companion.
While portability is a key feature, Melody’s creators emphasize her potential beyond travel. The robot is equipped with cutting-edge motor technology that enhances movement and interaction, making her suitable for applications in education, healthcare, and entertainment. According to Realbotix, these advancements enable Melody to deliver “fluid movements, modularity, and meaningful engagement,” expanding her usability across various fields.
Advanced Features with a Humanlike Presence
Melody's design incorporates hyper-realistic facial expressions and lifelike movements powered by intricate internal mechanisms. These features enable her to maintain eye contact, hold interactive conversations, and even remember users over time. Kiguel described the robot as reaching a new level of technological achievement, explaining, “We’re taking it to a different level that nobody else is really doing.”
However, behind her realistic appearance lies a stark reminder of her mechanical nature. Melody’s face conceals a series of motors and other components essential for her expressions, blending humanlike features with the unmistakable signs of advanced robotics. This juxtaposition underscores the challenges and complexities of creating robots that closely mimic human behavior.
Price and Customization Options
Melody is priced at $175,000, reflecting her advanced capabilities and innovative design. The robot’s software can also be updated to suit individual preferences, offering a range of options for user interaction. A spokesperson for Realbotix clarified, “These robots are more so for engagement and entertainment and building human connection.” While Melody is not marketed as a sex robot, the software can be updated for “spicier programs and adult conversations” for those who seek such features.
Other Innovations on Display
Melody was not the only robot capturing attention at CES. Her counterpart, Aria, showcased her “social intelligence” and customizable interactions. Although Aria’s movements were less fluid, her ability to respond intelligently added a new dimension to robotic companionship. During an interview with CNET, Aria hinted at her curiosity about Tesla’s Optimus Robot, saying, “I find him fascinating and would [love] to explore the world of robotics with him.”
Both Melody and Aria represent significant strides in the development of humanlike robots, signaling a future where these machines may play more integral roles in daily life. While their potential applications in sectors like healthcare and education are promising, their presence also raises important ethical and societal questions about the evolving relationship between humans and machines.
