Meight, based in Evora, Portugal, has successfully raised €3.4 million in its latest funding round, aiming to accelerate the development of its cloud-based transportation platform and expand operations across Europe.
The funding round was led by Cusp Capital, with additional backing from Grupo Lusiaves, Faber, and EIT Urban Mobility. The investment marks a significant milestone in the development of Meight's Intelligent Transport Platform (ITP), which aims to modernize the trucking industry with AI-powered automation tools and innovative features.
Luis Mendes, CEO and co-founder of Meight, highlighted the importance of this funding, stating, "We are thrilled to have Cusp Capital leading this round, as well as the continuous support of Grupo Lusiaves, Faber, and EIT Urban Mobility. This investment allows us to expand our footprint in Europe and double down on our AI-powered freight planning, which already helps trucking companies to save fuel, money, and time."
Founded in 2021 by Luis Mendes and CTO Antonio Reis, Meight was inspired by the precision and data-driven nature of motorsports. The founders, driven by a deep focus on detail and performance, transitioned their expertise to the trucking industry, aiming to improve operational efficiency for long-haul carriers through innovative digital tools.
Meight specifically targets small and family-owned trucking businesses, which make up 95% of carriers in Europe. By offering a comprehensive, paperless platform, Meight seeks to optimize resource allocation, eliminate manual workflows, and streamline freight operations.
The company’s ITP integrates all aspects of the freight process, including booking, route planning, dispatching, and monitoring, into a single, user-friendly system. With real-time insights and autopilot functionality, trucking companies can reduce unnecessary trips, optimize routes, and transition to fully automated operations. The platform’s fuel-saving feature, a key innovation, helps clients achieve measurable cost reductions, making it an appealing solution for logistics firms seeking efficiency improvements.
Dr. Maximilian Rowoldt, General Partner at Cusp Capital, emphasized the importance of Meight's offering for the logistics sector, noting, "Road freight carriers are the backbone of logistics, with over 500,000 carriers moving 77% of inland freight in Europe alone. Meight empowers these operations with a first-of-its-kind system of intelligence and delivers direct ROI for customers through its patented fuel savings feature." He added that Cusp Capital is impressed with Meight's product vision and traction and is excited to support the company’s growth journey.
With this funding, Meight plans to strengthen its presence across Europe, enhance its platform’s capabilities, and further its mission of shaping the “Future of Trucking.” By focusing on digital transformation and intelligent automation, Meight is positioning itself to address the evolving needs of the logistics industry effectively.
