Peugeot has been named the leading car manufacturer by French citizens in a nationwide consumer survey conducted by OpinionWay.

Peugeot has secured the top spot in the "Automotive Manufacturers" category in a public poll conducted by OpinionWay, reaffirming the brand’s strong presence in the French market. The results were drawn from an independent study evaluating public perception across multiple sectors, and Peugeot emerged as the most preferred car brand among consumers.

Independent research evaluated over 1,000 participants

The survey, which has been carried out annually since 2015, involved 1,032 participants aged 18 and above from across France. Organized by OpinionWay, the study is recognized for its neutral and comprehensive evaluation of existing brands across various industries. In this year’s assessment, Peugeot ranked first in the automotive category, receiving the highest approval rating from respondents.

The brand’s position at the top reflects broader trends in consumer behavior. Products perceived as offering strong value, reliable quality, and advanced technology appeared to influence Peugeot’s favorable standing. While the study did not solely focus on technical specifications or sales numbers, consumer preference appeared closely linked to satisfaction with recent models and innovations, particularly in electric mobility.

Favey: "We believe we have everything we need to succeed"

Peugeot CEO Alain Favey responded to the survey results by emphasizing the importance of consumer trust. He stated, "With the trust of the French people, we believe we have everything we need to succeed." His remarks pointed to the combined efforts of the company’s design, innovation, and quality teams, which have played a central role in the brand’s current position.

Favey also noted that “2025 will be a year in which performance takes center stage. Our entire product range, supported by the success of the Peugeot E-3008 and E-5008, and the trust of the French people, positions us strongly for what lies ahead.” His statement highlights the brand’s continued focus on electric vehicles and performance-oriented offerings.

Peugeot's recognition goes beyond market share

This latest recognition represents more than just a favorable opinion in a poll. It reinforces Peugeot’s relationship with local consumers, and underlines how a domestic brand can maintain relevance in a competitive global industry. The company’s emphasis on evolving vehicle design and growing electric vehicle options plays a key role in strengthening that relationship.

As the automotive sector continues to transform, Peugeot appears set to keep adapting to shifting consumer expectations, with a focus on sustainability and innovation that aligns with broader trends in the European car market.
