Paris-headquartered Maki People, known for its AI-powered conversational agents aimed at enhancing recruitment processes, has raised €27.8M in a Series A funding round led by Blossom Capital. Other participants in the round included DST Global, Frst, Global Founders Capital, and Picus Capital.
The newly secured funds will be used to accelerate the company’s product development, expand its presence in the U.S., and grow its team significantly. According to Maxime Legardez Coquin, CEO and co-founder of Maki People, “The U.S. is our top priority, and I’m moving to New York City to lead the charge. We’re hiring 60+ roles this year, so if you’re ready for a tough, crazy, and unforgettable journey, come join us.”
Transforming Recruitment Through Skill-Based Assessments
Founded in 2021 by Maxime Legardez, Paul-Louis Caylar, and Benjamin Chino, Maki People offers a unique platform that evaluates candidates' abilities through over 200 short tests, each lasting approximately 10 minutes. These assessments are developed in collaboration with global experts and focus exclusively on skills, setting aside factors like academic background, CV details, or personal opinions.
The insights derived from these tests enable recruiters to identify the most suitable candidates more efficiently, reducing hiring errors and the time spent on applications. By leveraging AI-driven tools, Maki People automates the entire recruitment process, from sourcing and screening to interviewing and selection, at scale.
AI-Driven Candidate Engagement
Candidates interact with Maki People’s conversational AI agents via voice, video, or text. These interactions are customized based on each individual’s profile, creating a tailored and adaptive experience. Moreover, organizations can configure workflows to align with their hiring objectives, ensuring fair and legally compliant processes across industries and regions.
Currently, the platform integrates seamlessly with 30 major Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), including Lever, Greenhouse, and SmartRecruiters. The solution is already being used by over 100 clients, ranging from startups to large corporations, demonstrating its growing relevance in the recruitment landscape.
Expanding Horizons
With its eyes set on the U.S. market, Maki People is determined to redefine recruitment through AI. As stated by Maxime Legardez Coquin, “Today, companies spend 3-4 percent of payroll on HR, but within 5 years, AI agents and human ingenuity will reshape work entirely.”
The company’s innovative approach not only aims to streamline hiring processes but also seeks to improve the experience for both recruiters and candidates. By focusing on skills and leveraging AI, Maki People is positioning itself as a transformative force in the global HR industry.
