The collaboration has led to the development of innovative features such as Omoda Stylist, a conversational AI assistant, and Discover the Look, which allows users to explore full outfit combinations instead of focusing solely on individual items. These tools aim to make online fashion shopping more engaging by offering personalized recommendations and enhancing the browsing experience.

With these new features, Omoda is reshaping how customers approach fashion shopping. Instead of merely displaying single products, the platform now inspires users to visualize complete outfits, fostering creativity and enabling shoppers to see how various pieces work together. Using Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, alongside Gemini models, multimodal embeddings, and Vector Search, the retailer has crafted an experience akin to having a personal stylist. Customers can describe their ideal look using natural language, such as “a summer wedding outfit” or “business casual for the office,” and receive tailored suggestions that align with their style, body type, and preferred brands.

Ewoud Friedlink, CTO of Omoda, highlighted the significance of this advancement, stating, “With this collaboration, we’re taking a major step toward fulfilling our vision of bringing the warmth and personalization of boutique shopping to the online world.” He added that by late 2024, Omoda expects “90% of product content—such as descriptions and recommendations—will be AI-generated.”

The introduction of Omoda Stylist and Discover the Look marks the beginning of a larger strategy to create an immersive online shopping experience. Early results indicate the transformative potential of these features. Shoppers using Discover the Look demonstrate conversion rates 2.5 times higher than those who do not. Furthermore, the AI tool simplifies the search process by offering intuitive, natural language-based recommendations, enhancing customer inspiration and driving engagement.

Another critical aspect of the system is its ability to align product recommendations with customers’ preferred or complementary brands, ensuring a more tailored shopping journey. According to Joost Smit, Head of Benelux at Google Cloud, this partnership “exemplifies how AI can enhance consumer experiences while driving tangible business outcomes for retailers.” He emphasized that the collaboration is not just about improving convenience but also about fostering long-term customer loyalty through a blend of sustainability and personalization.

Data-Driven Transformation

The foundation of Omoda’s innovation lies in its robust data infrastructure, powered by Google Cloud’s BigQuery and Looker Studio. These platforms enable real-time access to structured data, supporting AI-driven recommendations and insights. While the conversational AI feature is already live, Omoda is planning additional developments, including avatar-based outfit visualizations and integrations with customers’ digital wardrobes.
