Omni Secures $69M to Expand Its Business Intelligence Tools for Data Analysis
Omni was co-founded by Colin Zima, who previously led the Search Quality team at Google and served as the Chief Analytics Officer at Looker. According to Zima, the evolution of cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and BigQuery has merged traditional reliability with modern scalability, yet "tens of thousands of businesses remain tied to outdated BI processes.

As companies increasingly rely on data-driven decision-making, the demand for efficient business intelligence (BI) tools continues to grow. However, many existing solutions remain complex, slow, or insufficient for modern organizations. Aiming to bridge this gap, Omni provides a platform designed to streamline how businesses analyze and visualize their data.
Omni was co-founded by Colin Zima, who previously led the Search Quality team at Google and served as the Chief Analytics Officer at Looker. According to Zima, the evolution of cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake and BigQuery has merged traditional reliability with modern scalability, yet "tens of thousands of businesses remain tied to outdated BI processes." He emphasized that modern organizations need the flexibility of self-service analytics while maintaining centralized control, highlighting a major market opportunity for Omni.
The company's platform enables users to perform ad hoc data analysis, generate reports, and build visualizations using various elements, including hyperlinks, text, and images. With a point-and-click interface, Omni simplifies data queries and dashboard creation while also offering compatibility with Excel spreadsheets and formulas. The system can process raw SQL queries and restructure them into structured "modeled concepts," making them more accessible within the Omni interface.
Products built with Omni can be integrated into other applications, expanding their usability across different business functions. Zima stated that the platform was designed to accommodate a range of BI needs, offering an intuitive experience for beginners while supporting deep customization and advanced data modeling for experienced users.
Despite competition from numerous BI tools in the market, Omni has grown its customer base to over 200 companies, including Perplexity, BuzzFeed, Writer, and Incident.io. The company's annual recurring revenue has reached nearly $10 million, with expectations of tripling by the end of the year, according to Zima.
Investor interest in Omni has been strong, prompting the company to raise capital earlier than planned. The latest $69 million Series B funding round was led by ICONIQ Growth, with participation from Theory Ventures, First Round Capital, Redpoint Ventures, GV, and Snowflake Ventures.
Discussing the company's growth approach, Zima noted that some competitors have raised and rapidly spent hundreds of millions of dollars in pursuit of expansion. However, Omni has taken a more measured approach, as "building everything you need in a BI tool is expensive because we’re competing with every major BI tool from the last 40 years." He added that the company's strategy prioritizes efficient and intentional growth, focusing heavily on research and development rather than aggressive spending.
Based in San Francisco, Omni plans to use the new funding to accelerate product development, particularly in embedded analytics and spreadsheet functionality. The company also aims to expand its team, growing from 85 employees to 150 by the end of the year.
The financial backing will allow Omni to maintain a strong market position while staying focused on long-term goals. Zima emphasized the importance of financial independence, stating, "We want to be well-funded and control our own destiny. When an [exit] derails a company’s mission, product development slows, customer experience suffers, and the magic fades." The company’s strategy, he explained, has been to secure funding aggressively but spend it thoughtfully, ensuring that product innovation remains the priority without concerns over financial runway.
