NEURA Robotics Secures €120M to Drive Cognitive Robotics Forward
Metzingen, Germany-based NEURA Robotics has successfully raised €120 million in its Series B funding round, marking a significant step in its mission to redefine the robotics landscape. The round was led by Lingotto Investment Management, with participation from notable investors such as BlueCrest Capital Management, Volvo Cars Tech Fund, InterAlpen Partners, Vsquared Ventures, HV Capital, Delta Electronics, C4 Ventures, L-Bank, and company founder David Reger.

This substantial funding will enable NEURA Robotics to intensify its research and development efforts, introduce new robotics solutions, and expand the Neuraverse, a cloud-based platform designed to support robotic applications. These initiatives are expected to bolster the company’s position as a leader in cognitive and humanoid robotics.
Pioneering Cognitive Robotics for Industry Needs
Founded in 2019 by David Reger, NEURA Robotics focuses on enhancing collaborative robots (cobots) with cognitive capabilities. Reger envisioned robots that could “see, hear, and feel,” allowing for more seamless interaction between humans and machines across various environments.
The company’s cognitive robots are designed to address critical challenges such as labor shortages, workplace safety, and operational efficiency. By offering human-like precision in tasks, these robots provide industries with effective solutions to bridge operational gaps. According to Reger, “Cognitive robotics is expected to become bigger than the smartphone. I am proud that NEURA is the first to ship a commercially viable cognitive robot and remains Germany’s only humanoid robotics company.”
Over the past year, NEURA Robotics has doubled its workforce to more than 300 employees, increased its revenue tenfold, and secured an order book worth €1 billion, reflecting its rapid growth and market demand.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Adaptability
The unique strength of NEURA Robotics lies in its advanced perception systems, which equip its robots with the ability to understand and interact with their surroundings. These robots integrate 3D vision for object recognition and environmental mapping, voice recognition with natural language processing for effective communication, and force-torque sensors for enhanced touch sensitivity.
With these features powered by sophisticated AI algorithms, the robots can autonomously adapt to new environments and tasks, eliminating the need for complex safety systems. This makes them suitable for diverse applications, ranging from manufacturing and logistics to healthcare and even household tasks.
Innovations Redefining the Market
The company’s flagship products include MAiRA, the world’s first cognitive cobot capable of perceiving and responding to its environment, and 4NE-1, a humanoid robot developed for life-enhancing applications. Both innovations are supported by the Neuraverse platform, which allows developers and partners to create robotic applications using a cloud-based infrastructure.
A Vision for the Future
As the humanoid robotics market is projected to reach $38 billion by 2035, NEURA Robotics is positioning itself as a key player in this growing sector. Nikhil Srinivasan, Managing Partner of Lingotto Horizon, highlighted the company’s achievements, including its billion-euro order book, describing NEURA Robotics as a “potential multi-billion-dollar leader in industrial and consumer robotics.”
The company’s advancements in cognitive robotics mark a transformative shift in how industries integrate intelligent systems, paving the way for a future where robots operate seamlessly alongside humans in various domains.
