Following this announcement, Mobily’s board of directors confirmed the appointment of Nizar Banbila as the company’s new CEO, effective February 24, 2025. The decision comes as the company seeks to strengthen its strategic initiatives and further enhance its market positioning.
Extensive Experience in Telecommunications and IT
Banbila brings over 20 years of experience in the telecommunications and information technology sectors. His professional background includes various senior leadership roles, notably serving as the CEO of STC Bahrain, a subsidiary of Saudi Telecom Company (STC). During his tenure at STC, Banbila held multiple strategic positions, contributing to the company’s development across key business units.
In addition to his work at STC, Banbila’s expertise extends beyond telecommunications. He previously held an executive role at the National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri), where he was responsible for managing critical business operations. Earlier in his career, Banbila worked at Mobily as an executive general manager, gaining firsthand knowledge of the company’s internal dynamics. His experience also includes positions with the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques and a subsidiary of the Saudi Water Authority.

Banbila graduated with a degree in electrical and computer engineering from Umm al-Qura University. He has also completed numerous professional development programs at leading institutions, including Cambridge University, London Business School, and Harvard University’s Executive Program.
