California-based maternity care provider Millie has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round led by RH Capital, TMV, and Melinda French Gates' Pivotal Ventures. The company, founded by Anu Sharma, aims to enhance maternal healthcare by integrating in-person and virtual care solutions.

The idea for Millie emerged from Anu Sharma’s personal experience during the birth of her daughter in 2019. Coming from a medical background, she was able to identify symptoms that were overlooked by healthcare professionals, which led her to envision a maternity clinic offering a more comprehensive and supportive approach to maternal care.

Launched in 2022, Millie provides a range of services, including maternity and gynecological care, postpartum support, mental health services, and nutrition counseling. The company collaborates with major insurance providers, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of patients. Its hybrid model combines physical clinics with virtual consultations, remote monitoring, and a proprietary technology platform that supports patient care. Similar maternity care providers in the industry include Quilted Health and Oula.

In a statement to TechCrunch, Anu Sharma highlighted that Millie’s approach integrates "in-person care at our clinics with virtual visits, remote monitoring, and a proprietary app," allowing for a cost-efficient operation supported by AI-driven workflows. She emphasized that the company works in collaboration with insurance providers and healthcare systems to optimize patient outcomes.

With this latest funding round, Millie has raised nearly $19 million to date. The company plans to utilize the fresh capital to expand its physical locations across California and further develop its technology infrastructure. Additionally, it seeks to strengthen its network of healthcare partners to extend its reach and improve the quality of maternal care services.
