Alter Domus, a global provider of tech-driven fund administration services in the private equity, real assets, and private debt sectors, has announced the appointment of Mark Wiseman as its new Chairman. Known for his previous leadership roles at BlackRock, where he served as Chairman of the Alternatives business and Global Head of Active Equities, and as President and CEO of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB), Wiseman brings extensive experience to the firm’s governance structure.

Transition in leadership

Following his tenure, Rene Beltjens has stepped down from the Chairman role but will continue to serve on the company’s Board of Directors. This leadership transition comes as Alter Domus continues to scale its presence in the global alternatives industry, where it currently manages over $3 trillion in assets under administration (AUA). The firm’s integrated service offering supports asset managers with operational and data management needs, allowing them to focus on capital deployment and portfolio performance.

Strategic vision and board alignment

Reflecting on his appointment, Mark Wiseman stated: “I’m excited to work with Alter Domus’ highly accomplished global team to reap the opportunities that next generation innovation and investment offer alternative investment clients and their investors worldwide.” He emphasized the importance of combining innovation with strong client relationships across geographies and sectors.

Doug Hart, CEO of Alter Domus, welcomed the new Chairman by noting, “With an enviable track record of institutional investment management and experience in alternative assets, we are thrilled to welcome Mark as Chairman. Mark shares our strategic vision and commitment to the delivery of first-class client service and operational expertise.”

Support from key investors

The firm’s shareholders, including majority investor Cinven, as well as Permira and the original founders of Alter Domus, will continue to support the company’s board. Rory Neeson, Partner and Head of Cinven’s Business Services team, highlighted Wiseman’s potential contributions to the company's next stage of development. In a joint statement, Philip Muelder of Permira and former Chairman Rene Beltjens acknowledged the efforts of the supervisory board and the management team, expressing their confidence in Wiseman’s leadership moving forward.
