Leapmotor International Ships First Batch of Electric Vehicles to Europe
Leapmotor International has commenced the shipment of its electric vehicles to the European market, marking a significant milestone in its global expansion. The first batch, consisting of the C10 SUV and the T03 models, departed from Shanghai and is en route to various European ports. According to a statement from the company, the collaboration between Leapmotor and Stellantis has resulted in the establishment of Leapmotor International. This joint venture is focused on leveraging Stellantis's extensive distribution network to increase the presence of Leapmotor models across Europe. By the end of 2024, the company plans to expand its sales outlets from 200 to 500 by 2026, utilizing the strong commercial infrastructure of Stellantis.
The C10 and T03 models are equipped with advanced electric vehicle technologies, ensuring high performance, efficiency, and range. The C10, in particular, is Leapmotor's first global product built on the company's proprietary LEAP 3.0 technology architecture. This model meets global design and safety standards and has already received accolades for its technological and aesthetic design. It won the 2023 International CMF Design Award, the 2024 French Design Awards (FDA) Gold Award, and the 2024 USA MUSE Design Awards Gold Award.
Carlos Tavares, the CEO of Stellantis, expressed his optimism about the partnership's potential, stating, "Stellantis's strong commercial presence in Europe, combined with our teams' efforts to ensure product innovation and quality, gives us confidence that Leapmotor electric vehicles will be well-received by European customers." He emphasized that this shipment is a concrete step towards providing innovative, affordable, and sustainable mobility solutions to their customers and looked forward to the opportunities this partnership would bring.
Zhu Jiangming, the founder, Chairman, and CEO of Leapmotor, highlighted the company's achievements in the Chinese market, noting that Leapmotor has sold over 400,000 electric vehicles in China from the first sale up to the first half of July. He described China as the world's largest and most competitive electric vehicle market, where Leapmotor's products have proven their quality and gained local customer approval. "The C10 and T03 models were designed from the outset to meet the high-quality standards of global customers. We are confident that the collaboration between Stellantis and Leapmotor will drive significant growth for both companies," Jiangming stated.
