This substantial capital will be allocated with $800 million (approximately €740 million) designated for venture funds and $1.5 billion (approximately €1.38 billion) earmarked for a growth fund.

The announcement underscores Index Ventures's ongoing commitment to supporting transformative startups. The firm emphasized that its focus remains on fostering relationships with exceptional founders rather than just financial gains. “Some people think venture is all about the money. For us, it’s all about the people. We build authentic relationships with exceptional founders, knowing that the rest will follow,” the company stated.

To date, Index Ventures has backed 108 startups that have achieved a valuation of $1 billion, with 23 of these companies surpassing the $10 billion mark, and 57 becoming publicly traded. The firm's portfolio includes notable tech companies such as Figma, Revolut, Roblox, Scale AI, and Wiz, all of which have significantly impacted their respective industries.

Capital Injection at a Pivotal Moment

The recent capital injection comes at a crucial time for the startup ecosystem, according to Index Ventures. The firm highlighted several key developments shaping the current landscape:

Transformative Technologies: Rapid advancements in AI and other transformative technologies are revolutionizing various sectors, creating new opportunities for innovation and growth.

Globalization of Entrepreneurship: Access to a deeper and more diverse pool of expertise globally is empowering startups to leverage a wealth of skills and knowledge, driving international collaboration and expansion.

Increasing Tech Experience: Established strategies for achieving hyper-growth are becoming more refined, offering valuable roadmaps for startups aiming for rapid scale and success.

Reflecting on these trends, Index Ventures expressed its renewed commitment to its core philosophy. “Now is a moment that reinforces our ethos and renews our commitment to our craft. We believed that brilliant founders could come from anywhere, be anyone, and exist in every sector. Since then, venture and tech have changed beyond recognition. We don’t do deals. We back exceptional entrepreneurs, with table-pounding conviction,” the company said.
