Hidden Level Secures $65M to Strengthen Drone Defense and Expand Operations

Drone defense company Hidden Level Inc. has raised $65 million in its latest funding round, aiming to scale production, increase workforce capacity, and bolster public safety initiatives while enhancing its defense technologies. The Series C funding comes amid the growing global demand for reliable drone monitoring and airspace security solutions.

Founded in 2018, Hidden Level specializes in advanced radio frequency sensing technology designed to improve airspace safety by detecting and tracking both manned and unmanned aerial vehicles. Its systems are capable of identifying drones that operate covertly or without proper authorization, addressing significant challenges posed by unauthorized drone activities in sensitive areas.

The company’s technology employs passive radar and radio frequency direction-finding methods to monitor airspace without emitting signals. This allows it to remain virtually undetectable while complying with privacy regulations. Unlike active radar systems, which can be tracked by adversaries, Hidden Level’s passive approach ensures that its monitoring remains discreet and effective, making it a valuable tool for defense and security agencies.

The company’s solutions are already deployed across sectors such as defense, critical infrastructure, and public safety. Major organizations, including the U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Department of Defense, utilize its drone detection systems to secure high-risk zones and large-scale events.

Hidden Level integrates its sensor networks with existing security systems to provide scalable and cost-effective monitoring. By delivering actionable real-time data, the technology improves situational awareness and aids decision-making processes during operations. The system is capable of detecting a range of aerial activities, from conventional drones to more sophisticated “dark drones” and other aerial objects, such as aircraft and balloons. Additionally, it can locate drone operators, providing security teams with vital intelligence.

Currently, its technology is used by key military entities, including the U.S. Army, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Central Command, and U.S. Northern Command. Various federal, state, and local agencies also rely on the system for effective airspace control.

The latest funding round was led by DFJ Growth and included participation from Booz Allen Ventures Inc., Revolution Growth, Costanoa Ventures, Washington Harbour Partners, Veteran Ventures, and Founders Circle Capital.

Randy Glein of DFJ Growth highlighted the importance of the company’s technology, stating, “Hidden Level is addressing a critical gap in our defense capabilities with advanced technologies that identify and track the proliferating UAS threats while remaining virtually undetectable.”

This investment follows a $35 million Series B round in 2024, bringing the company’s total fundraising to $100 million within the past year.
