Genesys, a leader in AI-powered cloud solutions, and Lighthouse Works, a specialized business outsourcing firm, have announced a new initiative aimed at enhancing career opportunities for the blind and visually impaired (B/VI) community globally. This partnership marks a significant step towards inclusive employment through the implementation of an accessible experience orchestration solution on the Genesys Cloud™ platform.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated 2.2 billion people worldwide suffer from some form of vision impairment. In the United States, unemployment among the B/VI community remains high, with approximately 70% of such individuals out of work, as highlighted by the National Industries for the Blind. This situation underscores a critical need for accessible technology solutions that can integrate B/VI individuals into the workforce more effectively.
The new tool, named EquiVista, developed by Lighthouse Works, is exclusively available on the Genesys Cloud platform. The launch of EquiVista is a pivotal moment in both companies' commitment to supporting underserved communities. It leverages the robust capabilities of Genesys Cloud to provide a customizable user interface that can be tailored to the specific visual needs of each user. The integration of JAWS, a screen reading software, into EquiVista ensures that B/VI individuals can perform their duties more efficiently by automating certain tasks and simplifying workflows.
EquiVista offers a range of features designed to improve workplace accessibility and efficiency. These include automation of repetitive tasks, streamlined workflows, hotkey support for easy navigation, and compliance with federal and international accessibility standards, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA. These enhancements are intended to empower organizations to create more inclusive environments that are not only compliant with legal standards but also beneficial to B/VI employees.
The significance of this partnership and the timing of EquiVista’s launch are emphasized by a recent Forrester survey, which found that a significant number of organizations in North America, Europe, and Asia are committed to improving accessibility. With many global initiatives aimed at increasing employment and education opportunities for disabled persons, such as the United Nations' 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the impending European Accessibility Act set to take full effect in June 2025, the introduction of EquiVista is particularly timely.
"We introduced EquiVista in partnership with Genesys to help level the playing field for the visually impaired workforce," said Kyle Johnson, CEO and president of Lighthouse Works. "With this technology, organizations have a massive opportunity to increase their impact and contribute to a more equitable world by providing more inclusive workplace environments and career advancement opportunities for this underrepresented population."
"Technology has a powerful role to play in aiding disabled people," stated Olivier Jouve, chief product officer at Genesys. "The Genesys Cloud platform was designed to be flexible and empower organizations to adapt it to the needs of their business, making what’s possible in the employee and customer experience limitless."
The collaboration between Genesys and Lighthouse Works is an inspiring example of how technology and empathy can come together to create life-changing opportunities for those often excluded from the traditional workforce. As Genesys continues to use its platform to benefit societal causes, the success of EquiVista could pave the way for further innovations in accessibility and inclusion across various industries.
