Toronto-based artificial intelligence firm Cohere has raised an impressive $450 million in a recent investment round, catapulting its valuation to $5 billion, according to information released by Reuters. The round saw participation from prominent existing investors such as Nvidia and Salesmove Ventures, alongside new contributors including Cisco and PSP Investments.
This round not only bolsters Cohere's substantial portfolio of investors, which includes names like Oracle and the public cybersecurity provider SentinelOne, but also marks the first tranche of what is expected to be further capital raising at the same valuation. Reuters notes that the company is actively pursuing additional funds.
Cohere stands out in the enterprise sector with its Cohere R+ series, an array of large language models that can process up to 128,000 tokens, handling extensive business documents and coding files efficiently. Its model Command R+ can understand ten languages natively and enriches its knowledge base through external data sources like databases. Additionally, Cohere boasts the capability to automatically respond to multi-step operational tasks and technical issues such as software errors.
The company's recurring annual revenue has reportedly surged from $13 million last year to $35 million by the end of March this year.
