LNG-powered ship supports BYD's global sustainability goals
The 199.9-meter-long and 38-meter-wide vessel is equipped with a dual-fuel propulsion system, enabling it to operate using liquefied natural gas (LNG). This system plays a role in reducing carbon emissions and is part of BYD’s broader environmental strategies. The ship has a gross tonnage of 69,250 and a net tonnage of 21,400, making it capable of handling large-scale deliveries efficiently.
Seven models currently available in Turkey
BYD continues expanding its presence in the Turkish market. In March, the company added the TANG model to its local offerings, bringing the total number of models available in Turkey to seven. These include DOLPHIN, ATTO 3, SEAL U DM-i, SEAL U EV, HAN, SEAL AWD, and TANG.
According to the company, new additions are planned for the coming months. The Comfort trim of the DOLPHIN model is expected to launch in the second half of April, followed by the introduction of the SEALION 7 in the third quarter. These rollouts aim to broaden the company’s lineup in Turkey and cater to increasing consumer demand.
Rapid growth in the Turkish passenger car market
Data shared by the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) indicates that BYD was the fastest-growing brand in the Turkish passenger car market during the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year. The increasing interest from Turkish consumers has played a role in strengthening the company’s market position.
BYD leads in the global transition to electric mobility
In 2022, BYD announced the complete end of fossil fuel vehicle production, becoming the first automaker to do so. The company has since reached a global milestone of producing 10 million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. The first 5 million units were manufactured over a span of 15 years, while the next 5 million were produced in just 15 months.
In 2023, BYD was recognized as the global leader in new energy vehicle (NEV) sales, having delivered over 4 million plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles within a single year. These figures underline the company’s commitment to expanding its role in sustainable transportation across various global markets.
