GMF Motor, a pioneering e-mobility company in Turkey, has unveiled its latest product, Brific, at a high-profile launch event on June 10. With a significant investment of approximately 2 million euros, primarily allocated to R&D, Brific is slated for a market release in July. The product has already garnered recognition, having won the IF Design Awards 2024 for its innovative design.
Kaan Erdemir, a board member of GMF Motor, highlighted the company's ambitious goals for Brific: “We aim to sell 3000 units in Turkey by the end of this year, generating a revenue of 4.5 million euros. By 2025, we plan to expand into 12 European countries, targeting sales of 14000 units and a revenue of 21 million euros.” Erdemir also mentioned their aspirations for market share, aiming for 5% in Turkey and 2% globally within three years.
Brific stands out in the e-mobility sector with its unique design and advanced features. It offers a superior riding experience using artificial intelligence, eco-friendly production, and enhanced safety. The product's development is a testament to GMF Motor's commitment to sustainability and innovation, emphasizing solutions based on renewable energy sources.
Erdemir explained the motivation behind Brific: “The shift towards individual travel post-pandemic and the positive impacts of electric vehicles on traffic, the environment, and urban noise levels have increased the demand for such products. The trend towards owning electric mobility solutions has been further reinforced by the banning of e-scooter rental services in various cities due to pollution concerns.”
In terms of performance, Brific is 20% lighter than its nearest competitor in the same class, boasting a 5.5% higher efficiency. “As one of Turkey's top five motor manufacturers, GMF Motor produces its own motors. The motor used in Brific, developed with entirely original engineering, is more efficient and lighter than those of our competitors,” said Erdemir. He emphasized that all components of Brific, including electronics, software, motor, battery pack, and chassis, are produced by GMF Motor.
Erdemir also discussed the ergonomic design of Brific, which features a forward-facing riding position akin to bicycles and motorcycles, providing better safety and comfort. Unlike other e-mobility products that require a side-facing body posture, Brific ensures full control and a safer riding experience by allowing users to maintain a natural forward-facing position.
Brific's innovative combined braking system, based on machine learning, is another highlight. Erdemir stated, “We have developed a combined braking system for Brific, utilizing machine learning, which is unique in the world. We have applied for patents and registrations for this technology.” The product is also designed for urban efficiency, with features like a removable battery system
