Amsterdam-based Seenons, a circular waste management tech platform, has officially entered the Swiss market by acquiring CP Recycling Management, a local waste management specialist. The move comes after the company’s previous expansions in Belgium and Denmark, marking another significant step in its European growth strategy.
The collaboration between Seenons and CP Recycling aims to enhance waste stream management and promote sustainable, circular practices across Switzerland. In its announcement, Seenons highlighted several challenges within the Swiss waste management sector, including high recycling costs, complex material recovery processes, and limited scalability of circular initiatives. The country’s dependency on exporting certain waste streams underscores the importance of local solutions and partnerships to address sustainability gaps.
Joost Kamermans, co-founder and CEO of Seenons, emphasized the company’s strategy for addressing these challenges. “To tackle these challenges, we focus on technological innovation, professional data management, and a strong local network of partners,” said Kamermans. He further explained that by integrating CP Recycling’s expertise with Seenons’ digital solutions, businesses in Switzerland could achieve more efficient waste management and advance their circular economy objectives.
Located in Villaz-St-Pierre, CP Recycling Management plays a key role in the Swiss waste market by prioritizing efficiency, transparency, and sustainability in its operations. The company, founded by Christian Piller, remains a family business with his son, Remi Piller, actively contributing to its development and fostering long-term relationships with partners and customers. According to Christian Piller, the acquisition will benefit both their clients and the company’s mission. “With Seenons by our side, we can support our customers even better. We now have access to innovative technology and a broader network while preserving the DNA of our family business.”
The company provides strategic consulting and asset management expertise, including the optimization of compactors and containers, which are essential for minimizing waste volumes and reducing transportation costs. Remi Piller noted that efficient use of these assets is critical for enhancing recycling processes and creating a more circular system. With Seenons’ advanced technology, businesses can further optimize their asset management and gain deeper insights into their waste flows.
Founded in 2019 by Joost Kamermans, Jorn Eiting van Liempt, and Martin Kayser, Seenons focuses on preventing residual waste from ending up in landfills, oceans, or incineration facilities. The platform operates across 15,000 locations in Europe with over 300 partners and manages more than 100 types of business waste. By offering businesses flexibility in their choice of waste management partners and providing essential insights, Seenons aims to drive a zero-waste approach while supporting the broader shift toward sustainable waste management practices across Europe.
