amberSearch has secured €2.1 million in seed investment led by Ventech, a pan-European early-stage venture capital firm, with additional participation from angel investors. With this funding, the company plans to evolve its AI-powered search tool into a broader enterprise automation platform tailored to the specific needs of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs). The main goal is to provide mid-sized companies with an AI assistant that improves access to internal knowledge and supports day-to-day tasks—without requiring major IT overhauls or depending on large tech providers.

From internal search to intelligent business automation

Initially launched as an AI-based enterprise search solution, amberSearch was designed to help employees access internal data scattered across different platforms and storage systems in a secure and compliant manner. As organizations grow and their data becomes increasingly fragmented, employees often waste valuable time trying to locate critical information. amberSearch addresses this by consolidating all internal knowledge into a single, AI-powered interface that preserves existing access rights.

Over 200 companies across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland are already using the platform to reduce search times, make faster decisions, and improve team collaboration. But search is no longer the only function. The company is now focused on supporting full automation capabilities, including AI assistants that help with repetitive tasks, agents that retrieve information with contextual awareness, and tools that can be customized based on a company’s specific operational structure.

A plug-and-play approach to enterprise AI

Many SMEs are still hesitant to adopt AI technologies due to concerns over security, complexity, and high resource demands. According to Philipp Reissel, co-founder and CEO of amberSearch, their approach is designed to overcome these barriers: “Our mission is to bring the power of AI to SMEs, especially in more traditional sectors – such as manufacturing – where companies have a wealth of information and data to manage but often struggle with AI adoption due to complexities, resource constraints, and concerns over data security.”

The company emphasizes that its solution is privacy-first and fully compliant with GDPR and ISO27001 standards. It integrates into existing systems without disrupting workflows and can offer up to 40% time savings for employees who would otherwise spend time on manual searches and internal inquiries.

Strategic backing from Ventech

Choosing the right partner for expansion was crucial for amberSearch. With over 320 investments and 184 exits, Ventech was selected not only for its track record but also for aligning with the company’s long-term vision. Nicolas Barthalon, Investor at Ventech in Munich, said that amberSearch has already shown strong traction by helping organizations uncover undocumented processes and leverage staff expertise. This integration into core workflows, he noted, sets the stage for the platform’s continued expansion.

With the newly secured investment, amberSearch plans to further integrate its AI agents into enterprise environments, enabling them to retrieve information, trigger processes, and contribute directly to workflow automation. As Bastian Maiworm, co-founder and CRO, stated: “Businesses can only leverage AI agents effectively when these agents can interact with the know-how of internal company systems. To make this possible, interfaces need to allow the agents to trigger processes and retrieve information.”

Looking ahead

With a roadmap centered on scalable and secure automation, amberSearch aims to help SMEs implement AI not just as a search utility but as a central component of their digital operations. The company is positioning itself to support more organizations in simplifying knowledge access and improving internal efficiency through integrated AI tools.
